Meron ba sa inyong gumagamit na ng BlogEngine.net? Kumusta naman? :)  Mukhang magiging kalaban ‘to ng WordPress ah hehehe. Isa pa lang ang nakita kong gumagamit… si Icy ng PinoyWebDeveloper.com

BlogEngine.NET is an open source .NET blogging project that was born out of desire for a better blog platform. A blog platform with less complexity, easy customization, and one that takes advantage of the latest .NET features.

BlogEngine.NET was designed using the current .NET framework and focused on simplicity, ease of extendibility, and innovative features. With BlogEngine.NET, we hope to create the natural blog of choice for all .NET developers world wide.

Ok nga kaya ‘to? hmmm…

FAQ

Here is a list of the most frequently asked questions about BlogEngine.NET. For more detailed documentation you can always visit the Wiki or check out the docs.

Q: Is BlogEngine.NET open source and completely free?
A: Yes. BlogEngine.NET is build by passionate developers who have too much spare time, just to make an open source blog engine to give away absolutely free.

Q: Is my mother able to use it?
A: Yes. We have gone to great lengths to make BlogEngine.NET as easy as possible to use – both from an end user as well as a developer or theme designer’s point of view.

Q: What are the demands for the web server?
A: The only thing needed to run BlogEngine.NET is a web server that support ASP.NET 2.0 and write permissions on the App_Data folder.

Q: What database is it running on?
A: None. BlogEngine.NET uses XML to store all posts, pages etc. by default. If you prefer to use a database, a SQL Server provider is included. You can find information about how to set up the SQL Server provider on our Wiki. For any other databases, you can write your own provider, which is very easy and simple to do.

Q: Can I customize the design of the blog?
A: Yes. If you don’t like the themes provided with BlogEngine.NET, you can change one so it matches your needs or create a new one from scratch. It requires only basic knowledge about ASP.NET and HTML to create a theme. Read more on theme creation/modification here.

Q: I have trouble. Can you help out?
A: Yes, as long as the trouble is BlogEngine.NET related. For information about the use of BlogEngine.NET or how to create themes, you can find almost everything you need at our Wiki. If you want to create extensions and need detailed code documentation, check out the BlogEngine.NET docs.

Q: How is BlogEngine.NET licensed?
A: BlogEngine.NET is licensed under the Microsoft Permissive License, which basically means that you can do anything you want to the source code as long as you release it under the same license.

Q: I want to contribute to BlogEngine.NET. What do I do?
A: We welcome anybody who wants to contribute. Please read our contribute page to find out how you can get involved.

PinoyBlogoSphere.com - Open Comments Workgroup - Now Online

June 9, 2008

If you are a blogger, a website owner, or a commenter, you may have notice how comments are fragmented since Web 1.0 and how it gets even more fragmented today - Web 2.0. Discussions about defragmenting Comments sparked up in the Comments space and the Blogosphere these past few months, especially with the growing popularity of services like Disqus, Intense Debate, and well the two most pointed-out fragmenter today - Shyftr and FriendFeed (to which I’ve said, it has been like that since Web 1.0).

PinoyBlogoSphere.com - Filipino blogger arrested? Who? When?

June 9, 2008

Source: www.PinoyBlogoSphere.com -

What’s your take on the concern raised by Benj on his post at FilipinoVoices.com: The Worst-Case Scenario: The Cyber Crackdown?

“…Opening the path to blogging to people like Lozada and Panlilio seems to be a double-edged sword….”

“…While the value of freedom of expression is undeniable and is arguably a concept that should almost supersede any other idea out there, this move also exposes the once sheltered community of bloggers to possible run-ins with the administration…”

“…Filipino political bloggers have always had their way all these years. No one has ever been charged and they could criticize using the strongest terms but what happens once the spotlight finally hits this corner of cyberspace….”

“…With more eyes and ears listening in to blogs, we may be just a few months away from seeing our first blogger arrest.”

Do you also have reservations about this?

Newscope

Thank goodness to Internet, I can tell everybody and pay my respects for the death of Rudy Fernandez.

I’m not really a fan, but he has a great resume and everything, Lorna Tolentino is lucky!

The fact that it literally took me a click to see the shocking news was a mere fantasy in the olden times when gossip mongers were the source of the fresh and shocking news. Internet really is great.

But being here in Hawai’i wherein you have to apply for a cable to get the news in the Philippines, is a little troublesome and lowers my chances of getting the latest stories.

Not only there’s difference if distance, there’s also time zone! Bummer. (BLOG ENTRY ENDS HERE)

That Trip

We went to Hale’iwa Beach Park again to swim (at last!) and see the turtles.

Before I can even go deeper than my abdominal a whole floor of rocks and a fear of an unidentified beach which might have unidentified creatures lurking about struck me to stop and go no further.

But later on just as I was grooving along the rocky base, sea currents took me and an unidentified shell made a cut on a big toe. It was a centimeter long.

Just to be safe from any lurking micro-organisms that might harm me, I took the liberty of going out of the beach and call it a day on my part.

At least I know what to bring next time, what to watch out for, and why people frequent less.

Even so, sitting on a park bench and doing nothing but soak up the sun and the wind (with sun screen of course) is fine by me. (MORE That Trip )

PinoyBlogoSphere.com - Plurk!

June 7, 2008

Source: www.PinoyBlogoSphere.com -

Twitter’s been down lately. Anyone with an account at the service will know that. The Web’s been abuzz with rants about the downtime, and while Pownce and Jaiku users have taken this opportunity to invite people to switch, Twitterers still can’t find a better service.

Until Plurk came along.

Yes, Plurk. It’s taking the Interwebs by storm and becoming a serious alternative to Twitter. How can it not be, what with its name (Plurk! Plurk! Plurk! I could say it all day), the funny headless pig cartoon, and the cool features that come with it. Many Plurkers (I guess that’s what we’re called) have been asking the questions: Is Plurk a viable alternative to Twitter and are you going back to Twitter or leaving it for good? In this post, I’ll explore the answers to those questions, so follow along!

PinoyBlogoSphere.com - Digg Friends with Benefits

June 5, 2008

Source: www.PinoyBlogoSphere.com -

Nope, it’s not the FB you’re thinking about. It’s about having the ideal digg friends who’ll digg your shouts and more. We all know that there are different kinds of digg users. Some of them are good for you and your content promotion, while others are simply not interested. There are digg users who are picky with their friends, and then there are those who just befriend anyone they could get their eyes on. I guess being picky for a right reason saves you the effort of having to add too many friends in exchange for better submission promotion. Why add 100 friends when all you need is maybe a carefully chosen 75 or half of it and get the same benefits. Of course, it sounds ridiculous since we all have reasons why we join digg and why we add friends, but if you’re interested in getting more from your “please digg shouts”, maybe filtering out the less responsive digg users from your potential friend list is a better option.

PinoyBlogoSphere.com - Two Posts.

Jun Lozada’s New Blog.

According to pinoyblurker, Bloggers Kapihan has launced a blog written by Jun Lozada himself.

I really think it is a great thing that he has a blog in part of his crusade to save the Philippines and maybe the world from utter destruction.

His latest blog entry “First Postings” talks about people who defame him and claim to be the voices of all pinoys around the globe that are actually paid dogs for the ever so corrupt officials.

His points and views are correct and makes you say your oh’s and ah’s, another good point is that it is in both Filipino and English, so everyone can understand. To top it all off, the layout is crips, clean, easy to acces and to the eyes. And a blog is a good communication medium even if you’re on dial-up or wi-fi. (more from Jun Lozada’s New Blog. )

Empty Goals.

So far, so good. This blog entry is just a reminder and a bulletin about our stay here in Hawai’i. It’s all because of the fact that I don’t have my own computer yet!

June 2 was that day and we went over to Hale’iwa, a super touristy spot for us to see the beach and for our new dad to see the turtles. (More from Empty Goals. )

PinoyBlogoSphere.com - The Z-list Blogger’s Comprehensive Guide to Getting Traffic from Digg

June 3, 2008

Source: www.PinoyBlogoSphere.com -

Are you a new blogger or, perhaps, one of the bottom dwellers that comprise the majority of the blogosphere (like me)? What are your chances of hitting the front page of digg, you may ask? Well, I have no exact numbers for that; but if you’re no social media genius then most probably it’s next to impossible. You can submit all your posts to digg but I can guarantee you that all your efforts will just go to waste. I am not trying to deter you from submitting your posts but for expecting to land on the front page, although not completely impossible, you should be realistic about it. What then can we expect from digg? I did some research before I temporarily vacated this blog for three weeks at most and I found out that it’s possible to get traffic from digg without necessarily hitting the front page. It might not be as massive as thousands a day but I can guarantee you that it will definitely be worth the effort. All you need is time and a focused effort to do it.
